When you rescue a pet from an animal shelter they imperceptibly become a part of your heart, because a rescued cat is more cherished and the eyes of a rescued dog are warmer, full of love and gratitude… You realise you once held an innocent animal’s life in hands and you are the reason why this animal is alive today! People who rescue dogs know they are not only first-rate companions, but the most loving friends.
The Wild Idea or Why We Rescue is a US project, created to inspire people to save animals from shelters instead of buying pets. Along with Purina One, a group of local photographers travel around the country and tell the stories of rescued pets in some incredible photos…
“After seeing the project, even if one person decides to go to their local shelter to adopt an animal, I‘d consider the whole thing a success. Every rescue story is a worthy story“, said Humphrey, the organiser of this event.

“I was at a low point in general and was just not feeling that great about life and someone had the idea that I should get a dog because it‘s a reason to get out of bed in the morning and I love dogs so much”, said Kathleen.
“We were walking back to our house and this stray cat started walking along side of us … She ended up following us all the way back. I said, ‘If that cat‘s still out there when we come back out, I think that‘s a sign that I should have this cat.“ - Ben
